  Writing scientific papers in English for publication in peer-reviewed journals is very challenging, even for native English speakers. The success of this process is further complicated if English is the second language of the author. Asian languages (including Chinese) have many structural differences with English, which can result in many common errors and an overall lack of clarity in presentation.  This talk is aimed at Chinese graduate students in science and engineering who are attempting to publish their work in English journals.  We will discuss the motivation for writing the papers, overall strategies for organizing and approaching the writing process, and review the common grammatical and structural errors that are often made by Chinese native speakers.  Throughout the lecture, students will participate by helping to point out various errors in writing examples taken from actual Chinese graduate students of the presenter.
