While there is consensus about PtRu and PtSn being the most efficient catalysts for methanol and ethanol oxidation, respectively, the reasons for the different performances of materials prepared by different methods, as well as the role of oxides and alloys, are not fully understood. At the same time, properties are in some cases interdependent, making more difficult to gain a better understanding of their influence on catalytic activities and reaction mechanisms. Studies of the distribution of reaction and the evaluation of the Pt 5d band vacancy by in situ XAS measurements performed around the Pt L3 edge were combined aiming to unravel the influence of electronic properties on the mechanisms methanol and ethanol oxidation on carbon-supported Pt-based catalysts. Results for methanol oxidation on PtRu materials and for ethanol oxidation on PtSn-based catalysts will be presented.
个人简历:
Mercedes博士于1989年获阿根廷国立Córdoba大学授予化学博士学位,在该校从教一直到2001年。2001-2004年到巴西圣保罗大学做访问研究,从2004年起到圣保罗州立大学任副教授至今。她于2006-2008年担任伊比利亚美洲电化学会的巴西国家代表,2008-2010担任副主席,2010-2012年担任主席;2004-2008年担任美国电化学会巴西分会主席,从2009年起担任美国电化学会的会议组织委员会委员。2008-2011年和2011-2014年两次获得巴西国家科学技术委员会的研究发展学术奖金。她领导的课题组在电催化、燃料电池等方面具有长期的研究基础和积累。特别在运用电化学原位红外光谱,和基于同步辐射技术的X-射线吸收谱、X-射线荧光谱、高分辨率X-射线衍射谱、紫外光谱和软X-射线谱等方法研究电催化反应机理,用高效液相色谱检测反应物种等方面具有坚实的基础。
