Abstract:
Light-matter interactions can be substantially enhanced at metal surfaces through excitation of surface plasmon polaritons. In this talk, plasmonic enhancement of Raman scattering and photocurrent generation are demonstrated on atomically defined planar single crystalline metal surfaces using sphere-plane type nano-cavities. For SERS, both of vibrational and electronic light scattering are presented in large frequency range covering ultra-low frequency region of both Stokes and anti-Stokes branches. For the photocurrent generation, the efficiency enhancement is discussed not only for plamonic antenna effect but also for controlling metal-molecule interface conductance.
