Title: Room-Temperature Conversion of Methane Becomes True

Abstract:

Direct transformation of methane into value-added chemicals is a “holy grail” in chemistry. It is particularly challenging to perform selective conversion of methane using green reagents (for example a green oxidant) under mild conditions. In a recently published paper in Chem, Deng, Bao, and co-workers succeeded in methane oxidation by H₂O₂ to C₁ oxygenated products with a selectivity around 94% at 25°C. The work provides a promising way to use highly efficient non-precious catalysts for methane conversions under mild conditions.
